A Way of life

The Sports Science Orthopaedic Surgical Day Centre is a dedicated orthopaedic surgical facility specialising in orthopaedic day procedures for both prominent sportsmen and private patients.

Life Healthcare is recognised throughout the health industry for its high calibre healthcare professionals and excellent facilities. Quality care is provided by orthopaedic surgeons, based at the centre and specialising in ankle, elbow, hand, hip, knee and shoulder joints.

We believe delivery of world-class healthcare is achieved through a combination of unparalleled quality and clinical excellence; along with a true focus on the personal needs of our patients and their families.

Every day as part of the Life Healthcare group we subscribe to its unique core values, while individually striving to continually improve facilities, standards and technology.

At Life Sports Science Orthopaedic Surgical Day Centre our priority is to focus on the delivery of a special brand of health and care to patients. Within a world class facility, this unique approach is what makes the difference.

The Life Sports Science Orthopaedic Surgical Day Centre is situated adjacent to the existing Sports Science Institute complex in Newlands, Cape Town. The historic Mariendahl Terrace cottages have been converted to accommodate this highly specialised facility.

Theatres
The two theatres at the centre are equipped with the latest technology for orthopaedic surgery. Dedicated surgical nursing staff ensures efficiency, continuity and a high standard of care in theatre.

Day ward
The day ward has four beds and two lazy boys to accommodate six patients. Orthopaedic nursing staff provides high quality of care.

Surgeons
The surgeons are all super-specialised and only practice in their specific field of orthopaedic surgery. Most are associated with the University of Cape Town’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Groote Schuur and are involved in teaching and research.
